## What Radicle is

Radicle is a peer-to-peer network for hosting git repositories. There is no central server: a
repository lives on every node that chooses to replicate it, and a node that replicates
repositories for others is called a seed. radicle.at is one such public seed, which is the
vantage point every figure here is measured from.

## The network right now

- radicle.at's routing table knows 15,983 public repositories.
- 1,891 nodes are announcing repositories; nodes with a locatable address are in 32 countries; 3,473 nodes have been seen at some point.
- The average repository has a seed count of 8.6. 78 of 15,983 have a single seed.
- 41 nodes each seed 1,000 repositories or more.

## Size of the whole thing

- Mirroring every public repository on Radicle takes roughly 122 GiB. The entire public network fits on a laptop.
- The median repository is 0.23 MiB, and 75% of repositories are under 1 MiB. 14 are over 1 GiB.
- The largest 1% of repositories hold 52% of all bytes.
- radicle.at stores 13,096 repositories, about 82% of the 15,983 it can see.

## People

- 1,044 identities have opened or commented on an issue or patch; 350 were active in the last 90 days and 109 in the last 30. Automation is excluded from those three.
- 85.2% of the issues and patches on the repos radicle.at stores involve only automated identities, 99% of those in 3 repositories.
